Going to See Musicals

"One of the things that we have really enjoyed doing as a family over the years is going in seeing the musicals.  Fortunately here in the Bay Area,  there are we have musicals that come right from Broadway, though sometimes they begin and start here and go to Broadway. 

     "We have opportunities in the city and we have great places in this area like the Woodminster Theatre up in Oakland and we have the Lesher Center for the Arts there in Walnut Creek and we have The Willows here in Concord. 

     "We have seen some amazing musicals over the years.  We just enjoy them, they are very fun, we like to sing the songs, it’s not unusual for us to burst into song, we like watching musicals on TV, and we will quote things from many musicals.   

     "Some of the ones that we have seen that have been very memorable -  We loved “Wicked”, “Lion King” was amazing, “Beauty and The Beast” how he transformed I will never know. Some of these I’d love to be a fly on the wall backstage to see how they do some of the special effects because it’s amazing. Of course, there’s “Les Misérables”, “Phantom of the Opera”. We went and saw “River Dance” which was a wonderful troupe of Irish dancers and musicians that came up and performed, oh man they were so good, we saw “Fiddler on the Roof”, we’ve seen “Man of La Mancha”, we’ve seen “Peter Pan” with Cathy Rigby she flew out over the audience that was in San Francisco.  

     "We saw “The Secret Garden”, we saw “1776”, we’ve seen “Pirates of Penzance”, we went and saw “Annie Get Your Gun”, just a couple of weeks ago. We saw “Sherk The Musical”, we saw“Fiddler on the Roof”, we’ve seen “Music Man”, “Hello Dolly”, and we’ve seen “The Drowsy Chaperone”.  

     "It’s just an amazing array of wonderful musicals that we have been able to participate in over the years.  We enjoy it as a family, fortunately, Ralph”s been a very good sport, It’s not always his top list of favorite things to do, but he also likes to do things with the family so he’s been willing to go with us, go see some of the shows.  It’s just been very fun, fortunately, we have a wide variety available to us and we can usually find something that is family appropriate and that we enjoy seeing. So that has been a very fun thing."
